The Kiphire District Planning & Development Board meeting was held on 12th November 2021 at DC’s conference hall, Kiphire under the Chairmanship of MLA & Chairman DPDB Kiphire, T Yangseo Sangtam.
Chief Medical Officer, Kiphire Dr. Motsuthung Patton highlighted on the status of COVID-19 Vaccination in the District and informed that the percentage is very low comparing to other districts. He added that due to rumours and other issues among the public, the medical team could not vaccinated in some villages. He informed that till date only seven villages have achieved 100% vaccination and five villages are yet to start the vaccination. Dr. Patton added that the Medical team along with the help of the NGOs are giving awareness campaign to the targeted villages.
MLA, Yangseo Sangtam said that vaccination is very important and that everyone must get vaccinated for the safety of others also. He lamented that Kiphire is not only the lowest vaccinated district in the state but also in the country. Sangtam encouraged the Church leaders, NGOs and tribal leaders to give awareness and to educate the people about the importance of vaccines and asked them to go for door to door campaign to get them vaccinated and urged them to interact in their own dialogue with the villagers about the vaccine. The MLA warned that development funds may not sanctioned to the District if the public do not obey the authorities, and urged everyone to get vaccinated. The MLA thanked the Agri & Allied departments for rendering their services to the public and urged them to assist the farmers more, especially during the water scarcity.
The house approved opening of New Government Primary School at Thunlun, Vongva, Cedeyevong and Tsutowong Village under pungro Sub-division and registration of Arkham Welfare Society, Kiphire Youth Centre and Educated Unemployment Block, Kiphire.
PowerPoint presentations were presented by the departments of Land Resources, Social Welfare and Water Resources.
The MLA also welcomed the new officers posted at Kiphire and urged them render their best for the development of the District in every field.
The winners of district level essay writing competition on the theme "Relevance of Gandhiji's thoughts for building a peaceful and prosperous Nagaland" were felicitated during the meeting. Kunyangla Y from Loyola Hr. Sec School, Kiphire bagged the first prize while Retsula from Mount Horeb Baptist School, Pungro came in second.
