Keeping in line with the directive from the State Government to take up measures for preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the district, the Kohima District Task Force (DTF) comprising of District Administration, Police and Dobashis carried out an enforcement drive on the implementation of COVID 19 appropriate behaviour especially the mandatory wearing of face masks in public places within Kohima town on 22th April 2021.
The enforcement and awareness drive was conducted to create awareness and sensitize the citizens on the important usage of wearing masks, which is the most effective way to combat the virus and also to ensure that everyone follows the SOP in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
During the drive, though it was the second enforcement drive in the capital’s streets and shops, a total number of two hundred and forty two (242) violators were found and penalized as per the Government guidelines.
The drive was conducted at four locations PHQ area, main town area, Razhü point area and High School junction area.
It may be mentioned that as decided in the DTF meeting more of such exercises will be conducted in coming days to oversee the enforcement of COVID 19 protocols in public places.
