            In Longleng the International Women’s Day 2021 cum Seminar on Women’s Rights and Privileges was celebrated under the aegis of the District Administration in collaboration with Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA), Bati Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), MSK – District Level Centre for Women (DLCW) and Sakhi One Stop Centre Longleng at PBCA Convention hall on 8th March with mammoth gathering of womenfolk from various Churches and villages across the district of Longleng.  

            Speaking on the occasion as the Special Guest the Deputy Commissioner Longleng, M. Shayung Phom exhorted the womenfolk to learn from the seminar, raise their voices and give good advices to their spouse to have a sense of humanity and gender equality both in the family and community for a better place. He also lauded the contribution of Phom women towards the growth and development of Phom community and was optimistic that the seminar will bring more change and added that he was highly encouraged to see the huge participation of women with good response from the village and grass root level. The DC also gave away the awards to the winners of the Poem Competition. 

            In her Keynote address Pichano Kikon, EAC Longleng asserted that the significant of the day was to recognise the responsibility and contribution of women in various fields and to educate them to avail their rights. She also encouraged the gathering to carry the message and disseminate the information back to their family and community.

            A. Shamthai Phom, President of Phomla Hoichem in her exhortation extended her appreciation to the district administration, PBCA, the Government agencies involved and the organizing committee for organizing the program in an impressive manner.  

            Later, in the seminar session the resource person Pichano Kikon spoke on the “Rules and Functions of DC office” while Yantsula, UBSI Women OC, Longleng spoke on the “Role of Women Police”. Dr. Obangjungla CMO, Longleng spoke on “Rights of Women’s Health “and T. Longlang Phom CDPO, Longleng Spoke on PMMVY Schemes. K. Athili, LDM Mokokchung & Longleng spoke on Banking, Insurance, Applying Scholarship and Atal Pension Scheme while Adv. P. Monyei Phom Panel Lawyer, DLSA, Longleng emphasized on “Fundamental Rights and Duties”. P. Phongla Phom, Women Welfare Officer, MSK Longleng and C. Henchum Phom Centre Administrator, OSC, Longleng spoke on “Schemes for Women & Girl child” and “Domestic Violence” respectively. 

            The program was chaired by K. Niamla, Women Pastor, LTBC.
