The people of Longleng bid farewell to the Deputy Commissioner, Longleng M. Shayung Phom on 10th June 2022 at the DC's office complex.
In his farewell speech, the outgoing DC recalled the Covid-19 Pandemic years and the cooperation extended by the churches, civil societies, and the NGOs to the district administration and the service rendered by the government officers during the most difficult situation and thanked them for their positive response and selfless humanitarian service. The success and achievements of the district during his tenure as DC was attributed to the leaders and officers of the district -we worked as a team, he added.
Therefore, Shayung appealed to the leaders and officers to continue to work together with the spirit of oneness to make Longleng the most peaceful district in the state.
He exhorted the NGO leaders to have a cordial relationship with the district administration and the government agencies to maintain peaceful law and order in the district. Sharing his unfinished task as head of the district he asserted not visiting the subdivisions and villages to attend to the grievances of the grassroots level because of the pandemic. The DC also assured to continue to work for the welfare of the district in all his possible capacity.
Speaking on behalf of the DPDB, Officers’ Club, and DEF Longleng, the Senior Superintendent of Police Kuhovi Sumi lauded the outgoing DC for his efficiency, capability, and humility. He said the DC has delivered justice to the people during his short tenure in the district.
Earlier, a short speech was proposed by SDO Civil Trongdiba Tongpi Sangtam on behalf of district administration, Y.B. Angam on behalf of the Red Cross Society and Public of Longleng; Tialemba Phom Executive Secretary PBCA on behalf of churches; Alee DB on behalf of Dobashis as well as representatives of Phomla Hoichem, Phom People’ Council and Phom Students’ Conference. A farewell song was presented by the DC office staff. The program was attended by government officers, NGOs, church leaders, LTC, business community, and the staff of the DC office.
