The monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting for the month of August 2026, was held on 6th August 2026, at DPDB Hall, Longleng. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner & Vice-Chairma DPDB Longleng, W. Manpai Phom NCS, who welcome the board members present in the meeting.
In his introductory note, the chairman apprised the members that the district has faced a massive disaster after incessant rain cutting off road connectivity, Telecom line, affecting Villages, farmlands, forest and houses across the district. Several villages were cut off and inaccessible till date. He informed the Agri and Allied departments to collect the details assessment report of the damage farmlands and fields and destruction of Telecom line in the district.
After the review of the previous meeting minutes, the board deliberated on district awards, where ADC Longleng, Thungchanbemo Tungoe NCS, briefed the house on the new criteria setup by the committee members, which includes CSOs, NGOs and other Institutions for the awards besides the Government employees. The District Commandant, Home Guard, Chibeni Ezung, briefed the house regarding the need of Civil Defence in the district, and submitted a proposal for establishment of Civil Defence in the district. Executive Engineer Transmission Mokokchung, Er. Hokaito Assumi, briefly highlighted on 132/133 KV substation at Pongo village. He informed the house that the department faced difficulties with the land owners during the time of vegetation clearance, and appealed the house to extend cooperation and support during such challenging times.
The house also delibersted on the proposal submitted by the Eastern Naga Women Organisation, for drainage infrastructure development. In this regard the chairman urged the concerned department to come up with a comprehensive field assistant of all blocks.
Assistant Programmer Coordinator DRDA, Y. Tongpang Phom, presented the departmental programmes and activities of the department in the meeting. The house also discussed on preparation for the forthcoming India Independence Day celebration in the district. The house also decided to conduct a mass social work on 8th August 2026.
The chairman entrusted the Education Department to present their activities during the next DPDB meeting. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the chair.
