Hoyang restaurant cum coffee house/bar was inaugurated by MLA, N. Thongwang Konyak on 12th October 2021 at Mon.  

Thongwang, thanked the Land Resources Department for helping and guiding young entrepreneurs in Mon. He stated that with the successful completion of the collaboration project, Mon has its first restaurant with a coffee bar. He urged the people to respect the decorum and ambience of the restaurant for the benefit of all, especially the tourists. 

Deputy Commissioner Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS, stated that the initiatives of Land Resources Department was not only benefiting the farmers but was also creating an ecosystem of entrepreneurs increasing the value chain of coffee in the State. He urged upon the Department to take similar initiatives in the other parts of the District. 

DPO, Land Resources, Mon, Biren Chetri stated that as part of the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav", commemorating India's 75th Independence, the Department took the initiative to help a young local entrepreneur, Lizhu Jorlin, by providing the coffee-making machine to establish the coffee house/bar in Mon while also imparting a week long training on Barista, at Kohima, to the entrepreneur. He added that coffee plantation in the District started in 2016-17, with large areas in the Upper region successfully growing coffee to the tune of 2000 Kgs of dried capsule in 2021.

Chetri highlighted that the Department has signed an MoU with Noble Cause Coffee Company, Capetown, South Africa for 30 years where the finished products of Coffee from Nagaland would be exported. He also added that farmers would be technically supported and supervised to promote coffee farming, in collaboration with Coffee Board of India and Land Resources Department, Government of Nagaland.
