Mahaparinirvan Diwas in honor Dr. Bhimarao Ramji Ambedkar and as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav a programme was held on 6th December 2021 at the Directorate of social welfare Kohima. 

Additional Secretary Home Department, Nusieta Rhakho while reading out the  formal statement  said that Dr B.R Ambedkar who was awarded the Bharat Ratna award- India’s highest civilian award as an Indian jurist, economist, and social reformer who fought against economic and social discrimination of the untouchables and outcasts and a champion of the depressed untouchable  and backward classes of India. He added "let us all reminisce and cherish the esteemed life and the contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to pre and post Independence India".  He informed that today a grateful nation pays rich homage to this exemplary statesman who rose to stardom from a very humble social and economic background. His scholastic spirit and achievements, his constitutional, political and economic expertise has created a far reaching impact on the Indian states and citizens.

On his 64th Mahaparinirvan Diwas, today as the nation pays homage to Dr. B.R Ambedkar, let us salute this great soul with all reverence and urged all to emulate the exemplary life and rise up above all human challenges and contribute what we have for the progress of the nation, he added.
