In view of the upcoming Independence Day celebration 2026, a mass cleanliness drive was conducted across Medziphema subdivision on 13th August 2026. The cleanliness drive commenced from 07:00 AM.
The cleanliness drive was conducted with the objectives of maintaining a clean and hygienic environment and promoting responsible solid waste management. The participants cleaned their respective premises and surrounding areas and ensured proper collection and disposal of waste.
In accordance with recent directions on solid waste management issued by the MTC, emphasis was also given to segregation of waste at source. Waste generators were encouraged to segregate waste into four categories namely wet waste, dry waste, sanitary waste and special care waste. The participants also encourage to hand only segregate waste and to avoid mixing wet and dry waste.
The cleanliness drive was a huge success with mass participation from the Medziphema Administration, MTC, all government departments, institutions, commercial establishments, Households, shops and the general public.
