The Inter-Departmental Coordination Committee (IDCC) meeting on Registration of Births & Deaths in Nagaland was held on 12th July 2022 at Civil Secretariat, Kohima with Commissioner & Secretary, Economics & Statistics, Kevileno Angami as the Chairperson.
Kevileno, who is also the Chief Registrar of Births & Deaths, Nagaland, welcomed the IDCC members and invitees and briefed the importance of the Civil Registration System in the State and the ways forward to achieve its goals and objectives in her opening remarks.
The Committee deliberated on sensitizing ASHAs during Health camps, sensitizing Anganwadi workers, highlighting the importance of CRS during Teachers' training programmes, compulsory birth certificates during school admission, sensitizing schools on the need for compulsory registration of birth, sensitization of the importance of Registration of Births & Deaths and the usage of CRS software by Registrars of Births & Deaths.
For Online Registration of Births & Deaths, the agendas discussed were the involvement of the Information and Public Relations Department for publicity of Online Registration of Births & Deaths, Redirecting the route/traffic to ORGI Web Portal whenever applicants log in through the IT&C application for online registration, and Exploring avenues for IT infrastructure in the State.
The Committee also proposed to organize a one day conference of District Economics & Statistics Officers, District level officers, and stakeholders at Kohima on the importance of the Civil Registration System.
Director Census Operations, Anoop Khinchi, IAS; Director, Economics & Statistics, Neidilhou Angami, and officers from stakeholder departments were present. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks from the chair.
