In a brief formal programme, K. Libanthung Lotha, IAS, Secretary to the government of Nagaland, Soil & Water Conservation Department released a booklet titled, “Meteorological Report of Nagaland 2021” at his office chamber on 13th April 2022, in the presence of the department officials. The booklet was published by the Soil Survey & Land Use Planning Wing of the Department.

In his opening remarks, Rongsenlemzung, Joint Director who chaired the programme, highlighted the importance of meteorological data for all agricultural related activities. He also stated that, according to expert opinions, the third world war could be due to “hydro-political issues or water related conflicts.” Further, he mentioned that in the light of climate and water related threats and the fast pace at which climate is changing, it is of most pressing need not only to record but also to document weather data.
