District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Noklak in collaboration with 12th Bn. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team conducted a Mock Drill Exercise on 2nd April 2022 at Noklak HQ under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner & Chairman DDMA Noklak, Hiazu Meru.
During the mock drill exercise, the scenario of an Earthquake of Magnitude 7.9 on the Richter scale striking Noklak at 11 am was enacted.
The initial report from the incident site came to the District Emergency Operation Centre (DEOC) where the building of Christian High School, Noklak was severely damaged. It was reported that students were trapped inside the debris as per the information, three victims from the 1st Floor were rescued and were sent to the district hospital. Four persons who got minor injuries were treated at Medical Aid Post.
The rescue operation was displayed by the NDRF Kohima team while the Responsible Officer, Incident commander, Operation section, Planning section, and Logistics section communicated with each other to take stock of the situation.
Company Commander, AR Noklak Major Arpit Gupta from Assam Rifles was the observer of the mock drill exercise.
Earlier on 1st April 2022, the Table Top exercise was held at DC's Conference Hall Noklak. DC & Chairman DDMA, Noklak Hiazu Meru highlighted the importance of the Table Top Exercise. The mock drill was conducted as part of the exercise for preparedness and awareness when actual disaster strikes, DC added. With the help of a PowerPoint presentation, DC reviewed the IRS's roles and responsibilities. He led the group discussion on the Scenario.

SDO (Civil) Noklak C.Phuniang delivered the vote of thanks. The program was chaired by EAC Noklak, Kathyinla.
Volunteers from IRCS, Christian High school, Noklak, Civil Societies, Government departments, and agencies actively participated and played their respective roles and responsibilities as assigned to them in the Incident Response System (IRS). It may be mentioned that the exercise was a first of its kind in Noklak.
