Mon District Planning and Development Board held its meeting on 15th April 2021 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, chaired by DC Mon Thavaseelan K IAS.
MLA & Chairman DPDB Mon, N. Thongwang Konyak appealed to the house to deliberate on ways to tackle the second wave of Covid-19 while also proposing for the Board to send suggestions to the State Level for closure of schools and institutions and banning of mass gathering amid the resurgence of Covid-19 cases in the State.
The Board unanimously passed the following proposals:
i) Financial Assistance to expand Apiary.
ii) Creation of Medical Sub-Centre at Longphoah village.
iii) Shifting of Medical College Mon to Chah-yo area Mon Village.
iv) Creation of Addl. Anganwadi Centre at Chingkao Nyaho Village under Chen circle. The house agreed to pass the proposal brought out by ADC Aboi, Chumlamo Humtsoe NCS, after completion of Social Welfare Departmental procedures.
v) Creation of Eklvya Model Residential School (EMRS) at Angjangyong and Tobu. The DC also highlighted that the upcoming EMRS Longwa would be sanctioned by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
vi) Model College for Women. The proposal was put up by KNSK President, Ponglem Konyak who highlighted that the location for the proposed college had been identified which would be free of cost.
vii) Creation of livelihood opportunity for women and youth through livestock and poultry rearing. Chief Veterinary Officer Mon, Dr. Vilatuo Rutsa highlighted the shortage of meat production in the District as compared to the demand and stressed on the importance of boosting the production for self-sufficiency. He stated that a total of 1450 Households focusing of women and 30-50 youths would be targeted in the first phase.
Dr. Rutsa also highlighted the recent case of mysterious deaths of pigs in Tobu area and stated that samples had been sent to Bhopal for determination of the cause.
viii) Upgradation of Mount Longnam School Longching to class VII.
The meeting of witnessed PowerPoint presentations by:
i) ECS representative Vishak on permaculture.
ii) Principal, Wangkhao College Mon, Wati Imchen on the challenges and problems faced by the college on its way to NAAC accreditation.
iii) Executive Engineers of PWD(R&B) Mon and Executive Engineer of Power on their respective activities.
DIO Mon, Shasinle Tep highlighted the house on the updates of Covid vaccination in the District which stands at 8,763 administered with the first dose and 2,303 administered with the second dose. He stated that there are 18 Vaccination Centres in the District which would increase to 36 Centres from 16th April 2021 onwards. She also highlighted that there will be Covid Vaccination Sessions conducted at workplaces in both public and private offices and urged upon the members of the house to cooperate with the Department for its success.
The meeting was attended by SP Mon Imnalensa Ao IPS, Administrative Officers and District HoDs and members of the board.
