The Governor of Assam and Nagaland Prof. Jagdish Mukhi arrived at Kiphire on 9th February 2022 for a two day tour program. A grand reception to his Excellency the Governor was carried out by HODs, Civil Society leaders at the helipad.

In the meeting with the Heads of Offices at DC's Conference hall Kiphire, the Governor said that he decided to visit Kiphire first among all the Districts, it being in the category of an 'Aspirational District'. "With the resources available in our hands, if our officers decide that we have to come up, nobody can stop us and the District to come up to the top," the Governor said. He called upon the heads of offices to take pleasure in discharging their duties and deal with the people politely as they come to your table with good aspiration. "To have mental satisfaction do justice to your job," he encouraged.

Power point on Aspirational District Governmental activities were presented by District Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, EE (PHED), District Agri Officer, Sericulture Department and District Administration. This was followed by interaction with the departments

Delivering the welcome speech, Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, T. Wati Aier NCS said the Kiphire District is inhabited by four tribes i.e. Sangtam, Yimkhiung, Tikhir and Eastern Sumi. Statistics of population of Kiphire has come to 70,644 due to bifurcation to Shamator District. The DC said that there is a lot of potentialities to improve the lives of common people through Eco Tourism. Kiphire District is based with blue rugged Mountain ranges, rivers and handful of tourists’ spots and wildlife sanctuaries. Apart from famous tourists spots there are potentialities to promote adventure tourism in rural areas such as rock climbing, mountain biking, para gliding, hiking, river rafting etc.

Deputy Commissioner said that once we expose Kiphire as tourist destination, the flood gate would be opened for inflow of visitors from within the country and from abroad.
