World Rabies Day is celebrated World wide on the 28th September every year with the goal to make world “Zero Rabies’ by 2030. To Commemorate the 14th World Rabies day, the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Nagaland, conducted a free Anti-rabies vaccination throughout the state, with the Theme: End Rabies: Collaborate: Vaccinate.

            Rabies is a 100% fatal zoonotic disease which is transmitted from animals to human and vice-versa. It is reported that in India, there are about 18000-20000 deaths due to rabies every year.

Director of A.H & Vety Services urged the public that along with the global adoption of 2030 as the goal for the elimination of Rabies, the Municipalities and Panchayats, towns and village councils, stakeholders should co-ordinate and co-operate for compulsory vaccination of dogs.
