Along with the rest of the country, Nagaland observed the launching programme of National Immunization Day on Sunday, 31st January 2021 at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK). Principal Director Health and Family Welfare Dr. Vizolie Z. Suokhrie while addressing the programme said India had remained free of Polio cases since 2011 and India's unprecedented progress against Polio has led to certified by WHO in 2014.
Dr. Suokhrie said that he was happy to see the parents bringing their children to receive Polio vaccine to protect their children. He also added that about 1.50 lakhs children in the age group 0-5 years are expected to be immunized and urged upon all the citizens to fight against this Polio so that we shall be able to overcome this disease and give a gift of Polio free world.
Dr. Ritu Thurr SIO, DHFW in his welcome address, said the department of health and family welfare is all geared up to administer Polio drops to all eligible children from 0-5 years throughout the state in 2206 Polio booths to be manned by 9096 health personnel and 441 supervisors along with vaccine and other logistics.
The program was chaired by Managing Director NHAK Dr. Thorhüsie Katiry. Deputy Commissioner Kohima Gregory Thejawalie and other officials from NHAK attended the program.
