In the recently concluded 2nd National Level Red Ribbon Club Quiz competition at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Tripura; Agartala on 24th March 2022, the participant from Nagaland H. Viputo Yeptho, B.Sc (Botany) 4th Semester and Red Ribbon Club member of Kohima Science college, Jotsoma has emerged as the National Winner. The felicitation program was organized by Nagaland State AIDS Control Society on the 31st March 2022 at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.
H. Viputo Yeptho, in his speech extended gratitude to NSACS for the opportunity and the College authority, his friends, and family for their prayer and support throughout the event. He also thanked Yashiyala Imchen from Mokokchung College of Teacher’s Education, who has been his quiz partner in the sub-regional and regional level RRC quiz competition but could not join the National level quiz due to her ongoing university exam.
Thungbeni Yanthan, Vice Principal KSC Jotsoma welcomed the participants and thanked Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi, Director (Health), Project Director NSACS, and Metevinuo Sakhrie, Joint Director, IEC NSACS for organizing the felicitation program. Congratulating H.Viputo Yeptho for winning the National quiz, she mentioned him as one of the most talented students in the college and hoped that he will bring more accolades to the college.
Addressing the program Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi Director (Health), Project Director NSACS congratulated the winner for bringing laurels to the state in particular and to the Northeast and the whole of the Eastern Region of India in general by winning the prestigious 2nd National Level RRC Quiz Competition. He highlighted the high HIV prevalence rate in the state, especially among young people, therefore encouraged the student to join the Red Ribbon Club movement and be the agent of change; in reducing the HIV prevalence rate in the state. He thanked the college Principal Dr. Lily Sema, the RRC Nodal officer, and the faculty members for their continuous support and cooperation.
Felicitating the National winner, H.Viputo Yeptho, with a certificate and a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000, Metevinuo Sakhrie, Joint Director, IEC NSACS narrated the event of the competition. She highlighted that the competition was participated by the winners of the four (4) regional level quiz competitions from the states of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, and Nagaland. She added that the intelligence, wisdom, and resilience of H.Viputo Yeptho have earned him the title.
During the National Level Quiz competition, the 2nd prize was bagged by Rajasthan, 3rd prize by Maharashtra, and 4th prize by Chandigarh. The Red Ribbon Club Quiz Competition had 5 levels of competition: District level, State level, Sub-regional level, Regional level, and National level, organized under the aegis of the National AIDS Control Organization, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India.
The program was moderated by Lhouti Tsuzuh of M.Sc 4th Semester (zoology) and attended by about 900 participants comprising NSACS officials, faculty members, staff, and the students of the Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.
