A press conference on Covid-19 was held on 7th June, 2020 at Conference Hall, Secretariat, Kohima.
As on 6th June, 2020, total positive cases in the State stand at 112 and the number of active cases are 104. Where, as per the severity symptoms, there are 103 asymptomatic cases, 1 mild symptomatic case and 8 have recovered after treatment. Out of the 112 positive cases there are 81 Male and 31 Female. Further 4 are in the age group of 0-17 years, and 108 are in the age group of 18-44 years.
Neiba Kronu, who was the spokesperson highlighted on the cabinet meeting which was held on 5th June, 2020. He pointed that the cabinet has deliberated on the existing SOP for the returnees and considering the need for further streamlining it, also decided inter alia by providing paid quarantine to those returnees who wish to avail it. He further encouraged enlisting private labs to conduct Covid-19 at Government approved rates, designating police quarantine for inmates indulging in unruly delinquent behaviour and enlisting cooperation and involvement of tribal bodies and Government Officer's Association for providing food in institutional quarantine.
He further highlighted that, the cabinet also decided for getting the details of quarantine returnees workers such as name, address, village, mobile number, past work experience or the trade engaged in particular skill proficiency and for developing institutional mechanisms for skill up gradation and training so that people who stay back are able to get employed and earn their living. Cabinet also decided that mechanisms will be put in place for registering anyone who wish to go out of the State for work so that details are available and Government is in position to promptly reach out to anyone outside the State who is in distress and provide assistance.
Kronu also informed that the cabinet has also asked the DGP to identify persons circulating fake or deceitful videos or messages pertaining to Covid-19 in the social media and punish them as per law. Further pointed the ongoing exercise of bringing in the returnees to the State, a bus carrying 29 passenger from Jammu& Kashmir is reaching today and tomorrow 34 passenger from Madhya Pradesh are reaching by bus and a special train from Maharashtra and Gujarat carrying 938 person will reach Dimapur.
