The Wokha District Open Table Tennis Championship commenced at the Indoor Badminton Stadium on 12th December 2023. The event saw the presence of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nagaland, Vyasan R (IAS), who graced the occasion as the guest of honour.

During his inaugural speech, CEO Vyasan R acknowledged Wokha district's robust sporting culture and the enthusiasm for sports activities. He highlighted that the district had untapped potential but lacked an organized association to encourage players, leading to unfulfilled results. Drawing from his experience as the former DC of Wokha district, he praised the strong volleyball team representing the district, urging today's youngsters to emulate their success and bring more laurels to the region.

CEO Vyasan R congratulated the newly formed Wokha District Table Tennis Association (WDTTA) for organizing the championship, providing a platform for young talents to showcase their skills. He expressed hope that the district could produce many accomplished players, making both the district and the state proud. Vyasan R also urged various sports associations in the district to ensure the regular conduct of sports activities.

The welcome address was delivered by L. Jonjibeno Odyuo, President of WDTTA. Libemo Jami, DYRO Wokha, delivered a brief speech, and the keynote address was presented by Dr. Kenny Ghosh, the representative of WDTTA.
