He asked them to work on sensitising and creating awareness among the people for protection and conservation of environment and biodiversity. He appealed the department to be agents and ambassadors of prevention of climate change. He suggested that DEFCC should work in coordination with district administration and civil societies in changing the mind-sets of the masses for tree plantation and wildlife conservation.
Kikheto Sema suggested that the department should not only work for the well-being of the forests but also should have focus on waste management, initiatives, reduction of pollution and wildlife protection. He further emphasized about the awareness generation through churches and how NBCC has dedicated the first Sunday of June every year for the prevention of climate change and bio-diversity conservation. We cannot run away from climate change, we cannot fight nature but we have to opt for the sustainable living which is in sync with nature, he said.
