The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department in coordination with Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati issues weather updates for the coming days.
The entire stretch of monsoon trough is shifting northward including Northeast India. Moreover, a cyclonic circulation is heading towards Bangladesh and Meghalaya around the 20th of July 2020 for which heavy spells of rainfall is expected over the Northeast region including Nagaland. Flood situation may worsen again due the rise in the level of river Brahmaputra.
Strong monsoon activity such as incessant rains, squally weather and lightning strikes is expected during this period in the coming week, which will get intense between 20th to 22nd of July 2020 for which the public's are advised to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period.
In view of the uncertainty associated with forecasted tracks of any cyclonic system and likelihood of heavy rainfall in the region, it would be prudent for all the DDMAs and the other line departments who are responsible to attend to any emergencies caused by natural calamities to be prepared to save lives and properties during this period.
