MLA, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Thangwang Wangham graced the Konyak Aoleang Monyu cum Mini Hornbill Festival 2026 as the Special Guest on 2nd April 2026 at Konyak Heritage Complex, Mon. President Eastern Sumi Hoho, K. Tokishe Sema was the Honour Guest, while MLA, Y. Mankhao Konyak was the Chief Host.
Extending festive greetings, the Special Guest said that he is very honoured to be a part of the celebration, and added that he came not as a special guest but as a brother. The Land of Angh is not just hosting the festival, it is witnessing a large gathering, a greater gathering, a grand coming together of the people from neighbouring states and from across the region with the spirit of oneness and unity from different places. A moment like this reminds us that we were never separated but divided by the political boundary on paper, Thangwang asserted. Congratulating the ENPO for signing the historic FNTA, he urged the people to work hard with true spirit of development for the people. He appeals to the younger generation to be educated, skilful and creative in every aspect of their life.
In his short speech, the Guest of Honour, Tokishe Sema said that the celebration was marked with a proud reflection of a rich Konyak heritage, tradition and unity with identity and strengthening of community bonds.
The Chief Host, MLA, Y Mankhao gave a brief note on the significance of the Aoleang Monyu.
EAC Mon, Shekhozo Vero, NCS, in his short speech said that the Konyak Union has always played a vital role in guiding the Konyak community with wisdom, unity and strength. Their leadership continues to inspire progress while preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Konyak people. The successful conduct of the Aoleang festival cum Mini Hornbill festival stands as a clear reflection of their vision, dedication and commitment to uplifting the society.
Cultural Performance were presented by - Wancho Modern Dance from Arunachal; Wa-yen Union Mon (Male); Tobu Area Union, Mon (female); Wakching Area Union, Mon (Female); Chi Union (male); Konyak Gazetted Officer s’ Union and Tangnyu & Yuching Union (Male). A Special Number, Tantet Eng-Vung by Canticles Band and Kahwang Konyak Aoleang Moiman Pha by Angao Ngunglim enthralled the gathering with their presentation.
The programme begins with the Konyak traditional Welcome Ceremony, Ceremonial Opening of Konyak Aoleang Monyu by Tonyei Phawang, Pongvun wang of Longwa and beating of Log Drum by Mon Union, Mon Town.
The programme was chaired by Manjun & Manyei Kuhmeishu N, while the invocation was pronounced by Rev. L. Metjen, Executive Secretary, KBBB. Welcome address was delivered by President Konyak Union, K. Yamao Konyak and a vote of thanks was delivered by Wangchung Konyak, Social & Cultural Secretary, KU. Benediction was delivered by Rev. E. Yeangphong Konyak, Dist.
