International Youth Day 2026 was observed with the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations”, along with the launching of the Intensified IEC Campaign 2026, at the Auditorium of Yingli College, Longleng on 12th August 2026.

The programme was chaired by Yingli CLW, Longleng and commenced with a welcome address by the Yingli Mission Society, Longleng.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Temsusashi, DACO, Longleng, who spoke on the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.” and highlighted the importance of understanding the diverse circumstances faced by young people while recognising their common aspirations for a healthier, safer and more inclusive society. He encouraged the youth to make informed choices, take

responsibility for their health and actively contribute to the well-being of their communities.

Speaking on the importance of youth participation in health awareness and social responsibility, Lochumbeni P. Shitiri, Assistant Professor-cum-RRC Co-ordinator, Yingli College, highlighted the significant role of the Red Ribbon Club (RRC) in creating awareness among young people, particularly on HIV/AIDS prevention and responsible health practices.

A session on the route of transmission of HIV/AIDS was subsequently conducted by Pangjungtoshi, ICTC Counsellor, DH Longleng, who sensitised the gathering on the various modes of transmission, preventive measures and the importance of awareness in preventing the spread of

HIV/AIDS.

Following the programme, the Intensified IEC Campaign 2026 was officially flagged off by Dr. T. Temsu Imti, Principal, Yingli College, Longleng. The programme aimed to strengthen awareness among young people and encourage them to contribute positively towards building a healthier, more informed and socially responsible society.

The initiative also reaffirmed the importance of empowering youth with accurate information and encouraging their meaningful participation in health and community-related activities. Followed by a screening session, which further reinforced the key messages of the programme and sensitised the participants on youth, health awareness and social responsibility.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Lita, DIS, Longleng.
