Along with the rest of the country, the 80th Independence Day was celebrated at Parade Ground, Tuensang on 15th August 2026 with Temjen Imna Along, Minister for Tourism and Higher Education as Chief Guest. On the arrival, the National Song was sung and the Minister hoisted the National Flag followed by Rastriya Salute and singing of National Anthem and Inspection of Parade.

            After the Minister delivered an Independence Day speech, singing of National Song and National Anthem was followed by March Past from DEF Tuensang, 3rd NAP Tuensang, Village Guard Tuensang, Ex- Serviceman, NCC SCC, NCC St. John Higher Secondary School, GHSS Hakushang, GHSS Tuensang, NCC Akhum Imlong School, St. Joseph School, Baptist Thangyen School, NCC PM. SHRI GHSS Thangjam, 3rd NAP and Hauhyang Chuba Pipe Bands. The Parade Commander was led by Dr. Akash Sinha IPS, SDPO Tuensang and 2nd In- Command L. Lanu Akum Chang ABI Tuensang. 

            Minister Temjen Imna Along handed over the District Commendation Awards and Best Farmers Awards.  He also inaugurated exhibition Stalls set up by ATMA, Agriculture Department, Land Resources Department, Sericulture Department, Horticulture Department, Fishery Department, Veterinary Department, Forest Department, KVK, Government Polytechnic Sedem, Election Department and District Legal Services Authorities. 

            Other Entertainment Programme included Band Display from 29th Assam Rifles Tuensang, Cultural Presentation from Chang Ün Cultural Troupe and Sangli Cultural Troupe, Special Presentation from St John Higher Secondary School and Wela Foundation School Tuensang.

            In the evening Exhibition Football match was played at Loyem Memorial Astro turf Ground, between DC XI and TDFA.
