The monthly District Planning and Development Board meeting was held on 9th May 2022 at the DC's conference hall, Wokha. V/Chairman DPDB & DC Wokha, Orenthung Lotha congratulated and welcomed the new DPDB chairman Wokha, Dr. Chumben Murry, DC also assured on behalf of the board members to extend full cooperation during his tenure.
Dr. Chumben Murry, in his opening remark, thanked the Chief Minister and the Planning Minister for reposing faith in him to be the chairman of the august house and said that the concept of this particular District Planning Board is to give a political will to execute/implement all the common schemes to address the needs of the district, with this concept, he added that the district planning board is doing yeomen service to achieve its goal.
He urged all the board members, especially the development departments to do well and contribute accordingly for the benefit of the welfare of the society and to bring change in the district and to some departments that had not done so, he urged them to clear up and do their best and work hard. Dr. Chumben Murry said the department of Agri and allied sectors need to give special emphasis to the district as the COVID-19 pandemic has created a destructive impact on the economy of the State as well as the district, therefore, to induce a change of that perception the department of Agri and allied sectors need to play a pivotal role, particularly on production unit in order to uncover the economy post-pandemic.
The board also welcomed two new members, S.S. NST Khriezotuolie Angami and Functional Manager (DIC) Bhandari, N.Zaben Odyuo.
Later in the day, following department officials led by DC, PD DRDA, DAO, E.E R&B, DPO (LRD), DFO (Forest), DWCO, Assistant Planning Commissioner (P), Horticulture and Veterinary & Animal Husbandry accompanied the DPDB chairman to Wokha village and had interaction with the village council members, SHGs and progressive farmers.
Dr. Chumben Murry said for the last two years due to the pandemic all Agri and its related activities have been hampered to a great extent, in order to regenerate on recovery process Agri and its allied sectors need to give special focus to creating an interface between the departments and the progressive farmers, so that they could understand what objectives the department has undertaken for the economic recovery. The department’s officials who accompanied him highlighted the various developmental activities and schemes to regenerate the economic activities and schemes to benefit the progressive farmers.
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Orenthung Lotha thanked all the members, Wokha village council, SHGs, and progressive farmers for making the programme a grand success.
