The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department in coordination with Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati issues weather updates for the coming days.
The state has experienced seasonal deficiency of 29% rainfall from 1st June 17th September. The most deficit district is Tuensang (63%) followed by Wokha (53%). Capital city Kohima is deficit by (33%). A total of 95 mm rainfall received this month so far and appears to be the least in last many years.
With a strong weather system forming over Bay of Bengal on 20th September, rain activities in the State will get stepped up between 20th - 22nd September and again from 25th - 26th September, 2020. No extreme weather activity is expected during this period. Most of the Thunderstorms and lightening accompanied with rain will happen during evening and night. The state will experience better weather conditions between 10 am - 5 pm during this period
NSDMA, Home Department has urged the public to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period. NSDMA has also requested all the DDMAs and other line departments who are responsible to attend to any emergencies caused by natural calamities and to be on alert to save lives and properties during this period.
