The Wokha District Planning and Development Board meeting was held on 9thAugust 2021 at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Wokha.

Proposal for registration of society for “Air Gun Sporting Association Nagaland” (ASAN) proposed by its President, Achamo Odyuo was approved by the board and forwarded to government for approval.

Executive Engineer, PHED Er.Imnazulu Ao while presenting a PowerPoint about Jal Jeevan Mission highlighted the civil works undergoing in the district under District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM). The E.E also stated that Implementation Support Agency (ISA) will carry out following functions: need assessment of FHTCs and motivate communities to have FHTCs, Act as coordination platform between DWSM and VWSC Use Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) tools for community mobilization and carry out need assessment, Assisting the community in water campaigns initiated by Government of India/ state Government, Carry out Social Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) activities. The duration of engagement for JJM work is from 2020-2025.

Ao also highlighted on the function of District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM): At the district level, DWSM is responsible for overall implementation of Water supply and sanitation. DWSM is headed by Deputy Commissioner as a chairperson, further pointed that district water and sanitation mission was formed during 2003 and is functional till date.

Chief Medical Officer, Wokha replying to queries raised by Chairman DPDB, Wokha, Mmhonlumo Kikon replied that the district has intensified random testing and special vaccination drive during the previous two/three weeks. He also informed that the district has witnessed an increase of 752 numbers in testing, while 100 (one thousand) increase in numbers of vaccination, the CMO further informed the Chairman that several action plan is being worked out to increase the level of awareness and sensitization in the district.

Advisor, Mmhonlumo Kikon advised the people of the district to get themselves tested and vaccinated and help other in educating the public about the benefit of the getting vaccinated. He also urged the DTF to conduct various meetings with the colonies in order to increase the percentage of testing and vaccination in our district.

The meeting was chaired by ADC (HQ), Wokha, T.Lankonsen Tsanglao. New members of the board were introduced during the meeting: District Forest Officer, SDO (Water Recourses) and SDO (NH) Er. Yanthanshan.
