Along with the rest of the country, Dimapur police observed Police Commemoration Day at CP’s office, Dimapur on 21st October 2021.
Speaking on the occassion, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo recalled how a police patroling party at Ladakh was ambushed by Chinese troops on 21st October in 1959 where 10 of them were killed and some captured. He said that in 1960, during IGP Conference, it was decided to observe 21st October as Police Commemoration Day to remember the sacrifice of not only those killed in Ladakh but of all other policeman killed in the line of duty. He informed that during the last one year, 377 police personnel in the country lost their lives while performing their duties. In addition, altogether, 14 police personnel lost their lives due to Covid out of which four were from Dimapur District.
The day was also marked by general salute, presentation of "Roll of Honour" to CP Dimapur, reading out of "Roll of Honour", Laying of "Roll of Honour" on the Cenotaph, Shok Kar "Last post" followed by 'Reveille', SAMARAK KO SALAMI and laying of wreaths by the CP followed by other officers and personal.
