Inauguration of project ' UJJWAL' under the theme 'Light up our Kiphire' was held at Deluxe point, Kiphire on 10th September 2020, with the initiative of the District Administration.
Project 'Ujjwal' which is translated as 'Bright', is a multi phase project taken up by District administration to install street lights in Kiphire town.The District Administration acknowledge the importance of proper street lightening and devised the project ujjwal, taking the cognizance of problems faced by the public and especially girls and women of the district, after receiving several complains from various organisation regarding lack of street lighting during late hours.
Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, Abhinav Shivam, IAS stated that Kiphire is an 'Aspirational District' and a lot needs to be done. Kiphire being a multi tribe district, he appealed the public to be united and aspire for excellence and efficiency with honesty as the Administration is ever ready to listen to the problems and determined to find a solution. He asserted that there is no reason for Kiphire to lag behind as a district, if we come together to support daughter then Kiphire District can be transformed leveraging upon the opportunity provided by the aspirational programme into the best performing District.
The programme was chaired by ADC, Nyempo Wallim and later prayer for the project was done by the president, pastor union Kiphire.
The various phases of UJJWAL are as under:
Phase-1: To be jointly executed by District Administration and power department, to provide immediate relief to women and citizens important key points are identified in the town and the lighting shall be provided within three days.
Phase-2: To be executed in collaboration of KTC, commercial establishment and government department wherein direct all commercial establishments (Shops etc) to put up a LED Light bulb, similarly all the Government offices shall put some bulbs in their buildings to augment the provision of light in and around Kiphire town within a week of this notice.
Moreover, private residential houses along the stretches of the road in their premises to light the neighbouring road, however it is totally voluntary for private house.
Phase-3 and onwards: Shall be taken up jointly by the District Administration & power department to gradually increase the number street lights, repair and refix old street lights with future vision of covering all sub- divisions in the district.
All ward authorities, Dobashis and KTCCI will be responsible to keep a check that the street lights and bulbs are not damaged by miscreants within their own jurisdiction.
