The District Election Office, Mokokchung published a draft electoral roll of all assembly constituencies in the district and distributed them to political party representatives on 20th September, 2026 at DC's Chamber, Mokokchung.

DC and DEO, Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, while distributing the draft Electoral Rolls to the various political party representatives appreciated the citizens for active participation and cooperation with the Block Level Officers (BLOs) during the Special Intensive Revision exercise 2026. The objective of SIR exercise was to ensure that the Electoral Roll is accurate, inclusive and upto date while also to identify duplicate and ineligible entries. he reiterated.

After house-to-house enumeration and digitalization, a total of 1,56,302 pre-draft electors (73890 male and 74512 female) were identified under Mokokchung district. However, in reference to the previous 2005 electoral roll, a total of 7900 electors remained as uncollectable due to deaths, absent, permanently shifted, already enrolled and others, the DEO said.

The DEO informed the citizens to check the draft electoral roll for any Claims and Objections and the window period remains open from 20th September to 20th October 2026. During the period, eligible citizens can submit the prescribed forms for electoral roll related matters, which included FORM 6 for NAME INCLUSION, FORM 7 for INCLUSION or DELETION of NAME and FORM 8 for CORRECTION or MODIFICATION of entries or other permissible changes.

DEO added that while during the SIR process, those unmapped electors with reference to the previous 2005 electoral roll as well as electors whose mapping was found to contain anomalies or discrepancies, such electors will be served notices and the concern electors shall be given an opportunity to appear before the competent authority to establish their identity and eligibility, and will be required to produce the documents as prescribed by ECI. The Notice Phase and disposal of such cases will continue till 18th of November, 2026.

DEO, therefore, appealed to the citizens to carefully verify their names and particulars in the draft electoral roll and accordingly submit their appropriate claims and objections within the stipulated period wherever necessary before the final publication of the electoral roll, 2026.
