The Pungro Village Students’ Union in collaboration with Government Middle School, Pungro Village, conducted a mass cleanliness drive in and around Pungro Village on 22nd August 2026, from 6:00 AM onwards.
The initiative was undertaken with the objective of fostering environmental awareness amongst students and the community at large, while instilling a strong sense of responsibility towards maintaining a clean and healthy environment. During the drive, students collected plastic bags, bottles, wrappers, covers and other waste materials from the local ground to the Village Gate, GMS premises, circular roads, Khel roads and adjoining areas.
The activity not only contributed to a cleaner surrounding but also encouraged the students to develop a deeper sense of civic responsibility and environmental stewardship.
The students were guided and supervised by officials of the Union and members of the teaching staff, whose collective efforts ensured the successful execution of the cleanliness drive.
The Union also extended its heartfelt gratitude to the school authority, headed by Kinan, Head Teacher, GMS Pungro Village, for the invaluable contribution, cooperation and exemplary spirit of volunteerism extended towards the welfare of the community.
The Union also appeals to all community members to exercise greater caution and responsibility in the use and disposal of plastic materials, keeping in mind their far-reaching and detrimental impact on the environment.
