Legislators incharge of monitoring Kohima COVID-19, Minister Housing & Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum and Advisor Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire along with Advisor Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, R. Khing, MLAs Khriehu Liezietsu and Keneizhakho Nakhro had a review meeting with District Task Force (DTF) members, Angami Public Organisation (APO) and its frontal Organisations in the DPDB Hall, Kohima on 11th April 2020. 

Minister Tongpang informed that the Legislators in-charge of Kohima along with DTF team visited almost all CHCs, PHCs, Quarantine Centres, Isolation wards and COVID-19 Hospitals set up at various locations under the district and examined their preparedness levels. He thanked all the line departments, villages and towns councils for their efforts in this fight and also APO, AYO, ASU, AMK, KVYO and all other civil societies for coming forward and providing assistance to the district administration and police for various lockdown measures. Observing the necessity of availability of essential commodities in villages and towns and also water supply for the people, the minister suggested for constitution of core committee to assist the Villages and also to monitor water supply in the district. He further sought advises and suggestions from all the elected members of the district and DTF members for collective decision and implementation henceforth.

Advisor Dr. Nicky Kire also requested the members to seriously think on how best we can help on the issue of stranded people within and outside our state basing on the quarantine procedures for everyone safety. On the issue of movement of water tanker, Dr. Nicky said that some private parties along with Deputy Commissioner Kohima and KMC have been trying their best to arrange water for all the residents in Kohima as it necessity for every household and further felt that their movement should be considered. He further called for collective efforts and supports of all the elected members of the district to assist the people in respective constituencies and join hands together in this fight.

Informing that the meeting was specifically convened to discuss on how to go about after the 21 lockdown is over, Tongpang invited for opinion and suggestion from the members, where

APO, AYO, ASU, AMK shared various areas of concerns for the welfare of all the general public as well as the targeted group. After a lengthy discussion on various issues and suggestions shared by different organizations, the meeting decided to propose the following points to the higher authority:  to demand for lockdown to continue, to seal the inter-state border and monitor properly, movement of people stranded in the district to their respective district and to take care of Naga people coming back from other state with their transportation and quarantine facilities.

After the meeting, the legislators along with MLAs visited COVID-19 Hospital NHAK, Kohima and inspected the cordoned area and monitored and assessed the plans and preparation undertaken by the NHAK. Dr. Thong from NHAK gave a powerpoint presentation on the action plan of NHAK on COVID-19, where Minister Tongpang lauded the efforts and dedication put forth by the NHAK and further encouraged them to intimate as and when required for any problems which needs to be taken up at the higher level.
