Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, V. Shashank Shekhar, IAS in a press release informed that S. Keoshu Yimchunger of Sangphur village, District Tuensang, the official candidate of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has been declared duly elected uncontested to fill the vacancy caused in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly by the demise of Late Toshi Wungtung, by the Returning Officer for 58-Shamator-Chessore (ST) AC, B. Henok Buchem, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shamator, after the last hour for withdrawal of candidature on 13.10.2021. He added that only 1 (one) nomination was received by the Returning Officer till the last date of nominations on 08.10.2021. The nomination papers were taken up for scrutiny on 11.10.2021 and found valid.

The Election Commission announced the schedule for holding Bye-election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 58-Shamator-Chessore (ST) AC vide Press Note No.ECI/PN/83/2021 dated 28th September, 2021. The date of poll was fixed on 30.10.2021.
