In a programme held on 18th April 2022 at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Mon, Deputy Commissioner, Thavaseelan K, IAS distributed laptops and printers for setting up Lok Seva Kendra in Mon District under the assistance of the SELCO Foundation. 

SELCO FOUNDATION is a not-for-profit, public charitable trust having its regional office at Guwahati. It works to address other SDGs through Sustainable Development Goals-7, by ecosystem development approach. 

The Foundation is undertaking solar electrification of 55 Health Units in the District and recognizing the opportunity of continuous power supply. The Foundation on a pilot basis has decided to set up Digital Centres in 7 (Seven) Health Units viz Wakching CHC, Aboi CHC, Tobu CHC, Tizit CHC, Angphang PHC, Changlangshu PHC & Totok Chingnyu SC. 

The Lok Seva Kendras will provide the public, services normally provided at Common Service Centres at a minimal cost. The local entrepreneur for the project has been selected in coordination with NSRLM, Mon. 

The programme started with the context setting and introduction of the Foundation by the Regional Head of NE, SELCO Foundation, Madhabananda Ray. ADPM, NSRLM Mon, Hangsa shared his experience with the Foundation in areas of livelihood generation.

DC Mon in his address expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Mon to the Foundation for undertaking such activities in addressing the unemployment issue of the District. 

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Program Manager Livelihood, NE Regional Hub, Partha Das.
