A one-day seminar on the dissemination of government schemes under the Ministry of Textiles was organized by National Handloom Development Corporation Limited (NHDC) at Tiyi Hall Wokha on 24th May 2022.
During the programme, Additional Deputy Commissioner Wokha, T. Lankonsen Tsanglao said skill development is highly essential for youths of today's generation, and youths need to have skills to guarantee livelihood. He emphasized the need to impart job and skill-oriented knowledge besides traditional textbook knowledge in the school curriculum. He appreciated the huge turn-up of enthusiasts and weavers in the district and advised them not only to avail the schemes/benefit but to cultivate the schemes in a successful manner that would help in their family income and social progress.
Nchumbemo Patton, General Manager of District Industry and Commerce Wokha said there are multiple benefits through the Ministry of Textile and Handlooms, where he called upon weavers’ society and individuals to avail the benefit and bring a success story to the Department and for their own. Vandana E/rui President WDVCCA informed the concerned department to let publicize various schemes and projects so that all villages in the district are benefitted through DIC.
Nilesh Sukhadev, Senior Manager, NHDC Ltd. Guwahati while sharing the schemes, and their benefits said for people in the Northeast, weaving is in their blood. He said Nagaland is rich in textiles but unfortunate the products don't come out to market, he added that many trade fairs are set up regularly by the Ministry of Textiles and Handloom where stalls are given out free for those textiles and handloom sector.
He urged the young students to take professional studies in textiles and enhance their ideas and knowledge in the field of textile and fashion industry. Meanwhile, he advised the congregation to identify and bring out their original fiber and yarn with a theme that could be forwarded to the Ministry. He encouraged the congregation to even cultivate their own fibers production on larger scales which will be acknowledged by the government and they will receive assistance in various forms.
Mhalo Ezung, Chairperson, Charity Club MPS, Wokha encouraged the weavers to register their units and receive benefits through the Ministry and she suggested they purchase yarn requirements through their entitlement of registration on a larger scale with various subsidy rates.
Around 200 individuals from various handloom weavers societies turn up where Mharhoni Yanthan chaired the programme and Sojano Tsopoe, Jt. Secy. CCMPS Wokha said the vote of thanks.
