The Directorate of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship organised a two day sensitization workshop from 8th to 9th December, 2021 for Fellows under Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) program under the World Bank assisted ‘Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP)’ project of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. The MGNF programme is an initiative of the MSDE, implemented by the State Skill Development Mission (SSDM) and the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIMK) as the Academic Partner.
MGNF program was initiated to address the issue of non-availability of dedicated professionals at district level for effective skill planning and management. Twelve (12) research fellows are currently placed in each district of Nagaland under MGNF to work closely with the District Administration and strengthen the District Skill Committees headed by the Deputy Commissioners.
Addressing the workshop, Chiden Yaden, Director, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and SSDM stated that the event was organized to understand the experiences of the fellows and enable them to learn from the stakeholders in the State’s skilling ecosystem. Sreekanth CN, Manager, MGNF from IIMK apprised the gathering of the structure, objective and roles of various stakeholders under the MGNF program. This was followed by experiencing sharing by the fellows, presentations by Training Providers and visit to Centres.
The event was chaired by Zubemo Lotha Tsanglao, Deputy Director, DESD and E, presentations were made by Noune Chase, Director, YouthNet, Lezo Putsure, Founder/CEO, Edu Centre, and Menguzelie Suohu, DESD and E.
