The State Level Co-ordination Committee held a review meeting on the status of the ongoing 7th Economic Census at the Chief Secretary Conference hall, Kohima on 11th September 2020.

Special Secretary Economic & Statistics, Kevileno Angami highlighting on the status of the ongoing economic census said that the census/enumeration exercise is completed and out of 2276 survey frames given by GOI 2226 survey frames could be covered enumerating 4.80.0% units. However she said that 50 survey frames could not be covered for various reasons such as nonexistence, not habitated etc and that re- survey is required as directed by the Ministry for 383 units in the state.

Also on the background of the 7th Economic Census she said that the economic Census is implemented by the Ministry, GOI and conducted by the states after every five years. She added that under economic census all establishments including household enterprises engaged in production or distribution of goods/ services in non-farm agricultural and non-agricultural sector is enumerated.

She also said that the 7th economic census is currently being conducted across the country including Nagaland which was launched on 24th Aug 2019 and was slated for completion in three months. She further stated that State level coordination committee (SLCC) and District Level Co-ordination Committee were constituted for monitoring of the Census and the monitoring of day to day operations is assigned to the State Level Operations Committee (SLOC).

After thorough deliberation on the various issues Chief Secretary, Temjen Toy also the chairperson of the meeting remarked that the 50 survey frames which need re-survey must be done after through consultation and clarification with the GIS and Home Department.

The review meeting was attended by Departments of IT, Labour, IPR and Economic and Statistics and so far the SLCC has already held two review meetings.
