The State Level Steering-cum-Monitoring Committee (SLSCMC) meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Nagaland, J Alam, IAS on 16th February 2022 at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall, Kohima to discuss the Annual Work Plan & Budget for PM POSHAN (Mid Day Meal) 2022-2023.
Principal Director School Education, Shanavas C, IAS made a PowerPoint presentation on the activities carried out by the Department during 2020-21 and stated that the Department has been implementing Food Security Allowance, as directed by the Government of India, to eligible children during the closure of schools on account of COVID-19.
He highlighted that parents /guardians of eligible children were asked to report to the school on specified dates and then provided FAS which were pre-packed in the presence of SMCs, VECs, Block Level Officials, community members, etc. He said feedbacks were collected from the beneficiaries, and the Department has received positive responses so far.
Shanavas informed that food grain entitlement for primary classes was 100 gms per student while the cooking cost is Rs. 4.97/- per student. In the upper primary classes, foodgrain provided was 150 gms per student while the cooking cost is Rs. 7.45/- per student.
Chief Secretary and Chairman SLSCMC stated that special care is needed to successfully implement the various welfare schemes. He instructed the Department to work tirelessly towards the successful implementation of the scheme.
Discussion on the proposal for the year 2022-23 was also held and the committee approved the proposal.
