The second meeting of the State Steering Committee for COVID -19 Vaccine under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, Nagaland was held on 13th January 2021 in the Civil Secretariat Conference Hall, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima.
Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Amardeep Bhatia, IAS stated that the Central Government are being supplied 26,500 COVID vaccines which will be administered to Central and State health workers and the State police. The vaccination drive will begin on 16th January 2021 which will be followed by the second and third phase.
Bhatia informed that the vaccine will delivered shortly and all elaborate arrangements have been made for transportation to all Districts of the State. He also briefed the meeting that the first phase session sites have been arranged and are ready.
He also informed that the vaccine will be administer in two doses and will take effect only after 14 days after the second dose. He stated that people will need to keep following the COVID appropriate behaviour till the period is completed.
The Principal Secretary also called for the cooperation and support from the various departments of the State Government machinery once the vaccinations starts in the State. He also called for carrying out awareness information and programmes across the State to curb the menace of fake news and rumours related to the COVID-19 vaccine.
