Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was held at Seyochung- Sitimi 59th A/C under Kiphire District on 23rd February 2023 at EAC Office Sitimi.

Azila V Sangtam, District SVEEP Icon, defined Election as a process of Choosing or electing a leader who can be our voice and represent on our behalf. She also discussed the objective of the SVEEP campaign which is to ensure that people understand their rights as voters and exercise the right to vote with full responsibility and knowledge. Also to educate the voters about the importance of vote in a democratic country. She also reminded them that to exercise this right first they need to enroll in the electoral once they reach 18 years. To get enrolled, in a year there are four windows 1st January, 1st April, 1st July, and 1st August so once a citizen attains the age of 18 years everyone is free to enroll the names, she added.

Sangtam also said that everyone is free to exercise his/ her vote and if anyone stops you or tries to harm you then as per the Election Model Code of conduct given under section 171F they will be punished.

Later she encouraged the general public and the concerned to abstain from corruption and violence.

The program was led by T. Tsalise Head DB Sitimi and a welcome address by Sizin Renttah EAC Sitimi and AEO Kiphire.
