Teacher’s Day 2026, was celebrated in Longleng on 5th September 2026, at VDB/VCC hall Longleng with Deputy Commissioner Longleng, W. Manpai Phom NCS, as the special guest. The programme was organised by the District Education Office Longleng in collaboration with State Bank of India Longleng Branch. The programme commenced with an invocation and Blessing for the Teachers pronounced by Associate Pastor, Christan Education (LTBC), Bachem Phom.

The special guest in his address said that celebrating the teacher’s day with great enthusiasm was to honour the significance of the day and the sacrifices and dedicated efforts of teachers in moulding the future of the students. The DC reminded that different countries observe Teacher's Day on different dates, while India celebrate it on 5th September to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.

He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the teachers of the district who were felicitated and recognised by the State Government for their exemplary contribution and lifelong service in the field of education. The presence of these awardees has made today's celebration even more special. We are truly blessed to have you in our midst, the DC added.

Manpai also noted that the day is a special occasion to recognise the tireless efforts of teachers over the years, while it is also a moment for introspection on the future course of education.

Emphasising the immense responsibility of teachers, he said teachers play a pivotal role in shaping the future of children through guidance and mentorship. They are the source of inspiration and set example influencing far beyond the classroom and academic teaching. Teachers are the role models to lead children on the right path, he stated.

The DC also urged the teaching fraternity to build a strong foundation for students to ensure a bright future and not to treat their profession as mere routine work, but to discharge their duties with utmost dedication and sincerity, so that the district and society can progress along with the world. He also gave away the district teacher awards to the awardees of the district.

Highlights of the day were special number presented by Vision Val School Longleng and Ode to the Teachers by, Monglem Phom, GMS Pupei Longleng.

The programme was chaired by IE Coordinator DMA Longleng, A. Ainyu Phom, while the vote of thanks was delivered by, Sr. Sub-Divisional Education Officer & DEO in-Charge Longleng, K. Huqheto Chishi, and the benediction was pronounced by Teacher in-Charge, GPS Tongpen Longleng, N. Hongthai Phom.
