Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and DoNER, G.Kishan Reddy, unveiled the commemorative plaque of Road from NH -29 (Sovima village Gate to Thahekhu Village, Dimapur, today 25th September 2021. Addressing a public gathering at the Nagaland State Cricket Stadium, Sovima, Dimapur, Reddy observed that the particular road was very important for Dimapur city, as the bypass road would ease traffic congestion in Dimapur main road besides improving social and trade relations between different areas. Talking about the ongoing road construction between Kohima to Dimapur, Reddy felt that the road activity ought to speed up and requested the officials for completing the road at the earliest, while assuring that the Government of India, NH was ready to give money. "This road will be the game changer for Nagaland," the DoNER Minister maintained. He noted that with better infrastructural improvement, increase in resources and development activities the inflow of tourist will increase as Nagaland is adorned with natural beauty with rich culture and traditions. NER has natural beauty which we cannot get anywhere and therefore we should reach the expectations of the tourists, he added. Stating that Traditions, language, areas and states might differ but asserted, "we are one people, one nation, one country and we are all sons of Bharat" adding the Government under the leadership of Narendra Modi, wants to increase all infrastructure activities in the NER. In this regard, he urged the people to discuss with the existing government and to support development of the region. He assured that the government would implement all GOI schemes with commitment. Deputy Chief Minister and also Minister incharge Home and R&B Nagaland, Y.Patton, mentioned that roads are the only means of transportation and communication within the state, Nagaland being landlocked where socio economic activities of the State entirely depends on road infrastructure. He impressed upon the DoNER Minister that the State would require more assistance from the Ministry of DoNER for construction and improvement of road infrastructure for promoting Tourism, Trade, Industry and all round development. He therefore requested the Union Minister that funding under NESIDS be extended till such time the roads are fully developed and road conditions of the state are at par with that of other States in the country. Chief Engineer PWD (R& B,) Er.Kahuli Sema presented the technical report of the project. Principal Secretary, Works and Housing department, Menukhol John chaired the program while Secretary, Works & Housing department, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, NCS proposed the vote of thanks. (DPRO Dimapur)
