Voluntary Blood Donor Association Kohima observed World Blood Donor day with the theme ‘Donating Blood is an act of solidarity, join the effort and save lives’ on 14th June at Conference hall Red Cross Society building.

General Secretary Indian Red Cross Society, Nagaland branch Dr Neiphi Kire in his keynote address informed that despite all developments artificial blood cannot be prepared in any Laboratory, it has to come from human  body through blood donation. He appealed to the Government to support noble organizations such as Blood donor associations to strengthen and expand trier efforts to promote Voluntary Blood donation in the State.

Chairman Voluntary Blood donor Association Kohima, Bendang Imsong said that the significance of the day is to thank all the blood donors and to create wider public awareness of the need for regular unpaid blood donation. He appealed to the Government of Nagaland to take ownership and proactive role for more blood donation drives. Bendang mentioned that VBDA Kohima has celebrated 10 years of existence last year on 1st October 2021 and it is a commitment for the members of VBDA Kohima that we need to do more as a part of world Blood donor day celebration. He added that it is a significant day for the Association for launching the Blood Donors app.

CEO NSDMA Jonny Ruangmei launched the app which was developed by NK Square. Medical Officer Blood Bank NHAK, Dr Avila Sangtam thanked the VBDA Kohima, 78th Battlant CRPF where 33 jawans donated blood.

Altogether 40 persons from different background donated blood on the occasion of world Blood donor day celebration.
