Wokha District Planning & Development Board expressed its concern on non-completion of bridge over Doyang at Governors camp, Liphayan under Ralan Sub-Division. The construction of the bridge over Doyang river falls under Nagaland Foot-Hill Road (Now renamed as Nagaland Express Highway) once completed it will become the life line for the whole State of Nagaland. The issue was raised and deliberated during the board meeting held at Liphayan Governors camp on 28th January 2021.The meeting was chaired by the chairman DPDB and Advisor Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan.

During the meeting Departments like Horticulture, Land Resources, Sericulture, Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Forest, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Water Resources, Rural Development, Tourism, Road & Bridges, Chief Medical Office, Forest and other developmental departments highlighted their action plans and activities to be implemented during the targeted period at Liphayan which is one of the aspirational village under 40-Bhandari Assembly Constituency.

Chairman DPDB Wokha and Advisor for Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan stated that the motive behind in holding the meeting at Liphayan, which is one of the aspirational villages, was to make the various departments make them understand the place and difficulties as well as lack of development activities faced by the area people, where he urged all to put full effort to make their action plan successful.

The meeting also approved the proposal for up-gradation of EAC Chanpang to SDO (C) with Border Magistrate after a lengthy discussion taking into consideration the need of Officer on the ground to support the dialogue between the two states of Assam and Nagaland Government as Wokha district shares the longest stretch of border with Assam and to ensure that no untoward incident happens between the two states the board approved the proposal to higher authority for recommendation.

The board also approved the proposal to up-grade Baghty into Town Council as it fulfils the required criteria as well as the area had a lot of scope and potential for expansion in various areas of development.

Mhathung Yanthan, who also holds the portfolio of Border Affairs, expressed gratitude to the Commandant of 142 & 155 CRPF who both of them attended the meeting lauded for the yeomen service rendered to the area people in the principle of maintaining neutrality and with the hope to co-exist harmoniously between the two states and urged them to continue to give their best services to foster friendship and friendly atmosphere.

The chairman requested SDEO Bhandari to send proposal in the next DPDB meeting for up-gradation of Government Primary School to that of High School. Discussing on the matter for setting up of recreation centre at Wokha town the chairman requested the Deputy Commissioner to identify a good location/site for the same at the earliest.
