Wokha District Planning and Development Board meeting for the month of September was held on 8th September 2020 at DC conference hall, Wokha.
Advisor of Horticulture & Border Affairs and chairman DPDB Wokha, Mhathung Yanthan while welcoming the members after long months due to COVID-19 pandemic lockdown urged all board members to attend the meeting regularly and to actively participate in the planning process to bring change in the district as today we are living in extra-ordinary times due to the pandemic crisis. Yanthan urged all the Heads of Offices to adopt innovative ideas to overcome these new challenges ahead.
On the activities of the aspirational villages, Mhathung Yanthan urged all the concerned departments to give more emphasis on the projects and action plans submitted by each department should be implemented in letter and spirit. The board also decided to visit two aspiritional villages New Wokha and Ningying village in the next board meeting.
Chief Medical Officer, Wokha Dr. W. Tungoe while highlighting on COVID-19 scenario in the district said that it has recorded twenty four (24) positive cases, however, twenty three (23) has been recovered and already discharged and one is to be discharged on 9th Sept 2020. So far the district has not witnessed death and has no community spread, CMO also said that the district hospital has started its regular activities for both outdoor and indoor patients.
MLA Dr. Chumben Murry said that because of economic reasons lockdown has been lifted slowly, however, all need to take precautionary measures while venturing out to reshape our economic activities.
Vice/Chairman DPDB Wokha & Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Orenthung Lotha thanked all the four elected members from the district who are also members of the district Task Force for leading from the front and giving their best efforts to overcome the pandemic crisis, members of the District Task Force, all the frontline workers, NGOs and public for rendering yeoman’s service during the crisis. He further appealed to all to follow the SOPs laid down by the government as a precautionary measure while undertaking economic activities.
Jt. Secretary Border Affairs Jamithung Lothawhile highlighting Boarder issues with neighboring states especially in context of Assam state, said that the matter is with the Supreme Court of India and is under subjudice. He said that as we are facing very challenging times and all the three entities, the Government of India and the two effected states (Assam & Nagaland) have to use its wisdom for amicable solution to live in a peaceful coexistence.
The chairman also welcomed four new members namely, Kepelhonzo Terhuja DEO (Education), Thungrhomo Odyuo Sr. SDEO, Tori Yanthan DFO (Fishery) and Lichumo Jungio PO. The chairman requested DEO to highlight/ present their departmental activities in the next meeting.
