The monthly District Planning and Development Board meeting for the month of December was held on 9th December 2020 at DCs conference hall, Wokha.
Vice Chairman DPDB & DC, Wokha Orenthung Lotha who chaired the meeting welcomed the following new board members, DPO (Social Welfare) Imtitongzuk and BDO Chukitong Vikheto Kits.
Agendas during the meeting included proposal for introduction of Science Stream in Mt.Tiyi College, registration of Nzhuran Farmers Welfare Society Phiro Village and Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Wokha presented power point on the performance of the School.
Principal, Mt. Tiyi College Dr.Liban Ngullie who presented proposal for introduction of Science Stream in Mt.Tiyi College said that MTC was established in the year 1974 as a private college and Nagaland State Government took over in the year 1987 and is the only premier institution of Higher education for the last 46 years the college is offering only Arts stream, more over for Wokha district there is no Science college and the lest privilege students who could not effort to study outside, in order to facilitate the problem faced by the district the Principal forwarded the proposal, the Board discussed the merit of introduction of the stream and forwarded to the government for approval. The advantage of opening Science Stream will also enhance NAAC accreditation grading for the college.
Advisor Horticulture & Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan who is also the chairman of Wokha DPDB in his opening remark said he will do his level best to introduce Science stream and further urged all the stake holders of the district to appeal to the State Government for consideration to facilitate the students who want to pursue science stream, he also appeal to the parents of the district to encourage their children to study in the said institution as Mt. Tiyi is one of the premier institution in the district also had the best teaching faculties and there is lot of advantages of studying in our hometown.
Principal GHSS Wokha, Vungthungo Kikon presented power point presentation on the academic performance of the school. The board also recommended and forwarded to the government for approval of registration of Nzhuran Farmers Welfare Society Phiro village.
Advisor, Mhathung after reviewing dismal performance of the past few years of the academic results of GHSS, appealed to the school authority to give their best effort to bring good result he also urged them to conduct special efforts, such as special tuition and urged the teachers to adapt students to produce good result. Advisor appealed to all the stake holders of the district to chip-in for improvement of the school infrastructure which is in a rundown condition.
In his final remark, Mhathung said, this year being a historic and an eventful year, a challenging time we went through COVID situation was an unwarranted and unprecedented but the district has tackled well. He appealed to the citizen of the district that pandemic is still going on, we need to take extra care and take due precaution while venturing out for livelihood. Advisor also thanked the District Task Force for rendering their best efforts to contain the pandemic, he further thank the DTF for still continuing their best effort on a yeoman job being carried out. As this being the last DPDB meeting for the year 2020, he remarked that the performance of DPDB is improving every year which he congratulated all the members and thanked them for extending support during his chairmanship.
As a thanks giving for the year the board celebrated advent Christmas with light refreshment hosted by the Chairman.
