An emergency meeting of District Task Force, Wokha for COVID-19 was held on 13th July 2021 at DC’s conference hall, Wokha. Deputy Commissioner & Chairman DTF, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha reviewed the COVID-19 situation about the district.

Chief Medical Officer and Dy.CMO, Wokha briefing on the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic in the district stated that, the district has so far vaccinated 35,560 persons, while 3,856 samples have been collected during the random test, so far the district has conducted random testing 16 times. The district currently has 255 positive cases and 9 numbers of deaths recorded while the positivity rate stands at 6.61%, recovery rate 83.78% while death rate stands at 3.47%, he stated.

During the meeting, the chairman requested all concerned involved to give their best in combating the pandemic and also stated that to bring down the positive cases and prevent the spread of COVID in the district random testing and mass vaccination has to be intensified, where the CMO stated that all the health care centers in the district are activated to carry out the test and vaccination on an aggressive level.

The Deputy Commissioner also informed that some persons are in the habit of circulating and spreading unconfirmed/ unverified and fake news in many social media platforms, where he said that such act are punishable offence which will invite punishments under relevant sections of the Nagaland Disaster Management Act 2005 and Nagaland Epidemic Diseases (COVID-19) Regulations 2020 and warned public to refrain from such kind of activities.

Lotha also informed that, the DTF has appointed SDO (C), Chonpenthung Ezung as the Nodal Officer for vaccination and testing related issues and requested to consult the Officer for consultation. DC also requested Superintendent of Police, Wokha for strict implementation of vehicular movements on ODD & EVEN basis.

Medical Officer, Wokha Dr. Chumdemo highlighted regarding the management of COVID-19 in the district  while Seyiekhrienuo, member Rapid Response Team (World Health Organization) highlighted on COVID assessment of Wokha district. 

Random testing was also conducted today for the DCs staff and other department employees today at DC’s office premise where 52 samples were collected and tested and all turned out to be negative. ADC, Wokha, Lankonsen Tsanglao and SDO (C) Chonpenthung Ezung before the commencement of the testing apprised the staff about the importance of getting vaccine and other COVID appropriate behaviors to be followed.
