In pursuance of the Home Department Political Brach Nagaland notification NO.CON-1/G/41/2011 Dated Kohima the 19th May 2022, Wokha District had also constituted the Inspection Team vide letter No.JUDL-78/CHECK GATES/2022/ 649-11 dt. 21.05.2022 with the following members:-

  6. DTO Wokha – Member

 

On 25.05.22 and 26.05.22, the Inspection Team visited the NST Wokha Town Council Toll-Tax booth at NST Colony and Longsa Village, “O” Point junction at Sanis, Bhandari Town Council Toll-Tax near Inter-State Police check gate at Bhandari and Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Quarantine check Post Merapani.

The Inspecting Team while visiting Sanis “O” point junction under Sanis Sub-division detected two staff of the Geology & Mining Department namely, (i) Benthungo Tungoe, Rigman, and (ii) Tensumanen Jamir, Contingency (Adhoc) who were found issuing challan/transit pass without proper procedure and also contravening to Government order and directives. In this connection, an FIR has been lodged by the inspection team at Police Station Sanis for proper investigation and further necessary action.

The team along with the ADC Bhandari inspected the Bhandari Town Council Toll-Tax booth adjacent to Inter-state Police Check Gate Bhandari but it was found closed.

The Inspecting Team then visited and inspected the Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Quarantine check Post at Foothill Merapani. The Team interacted with Dr. Wopenthung Odyuo, Deputy Director, In-Charge of Quarantine Check Post. He stated that the department will wait till 31.05.22 for further direction from the Government on whether the check post will continue or close down, however, he also stated that the department has no issue with closing down the quarantine check post on the ground of revenue collection but the main concern of the department is the likelihood of spreading diseases by livestock unless the department thoroughly examine and check the animals that are transported/ imported from neighbouring State.

The team also inspected the Wokha Town Toll-Tax booth located at Longsa Gate which was found closed after the Government notification. The team removed the signboards which were found displayed.

As of now, the team certifies that no check posts/collection booth exists in the district except one Inter-state Police Check Post located at Bhandari.
