            Joining the rest of the world,  Dimapur District Administration in collaboration with the District Level Center for Women-Maha Shakti Kendra (DLCW-MSK) Dimapur and Sakhi- One-stop  Center (OSC) Dimapur, celebrated International Women's Day on 8th March 2021, under the theme, "Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 World"

            Special guest for the occasion, DC, Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS in his address lauded the women for being the best performers in any field. "Many a time society takes the intangible contribution for granted but one should realise that the intangible contribution by women is contributing to the tangible outcomes" he maintained.  Observing that women were not given their due rights initially, he however noted that over the years good sense has prevailed in the society and with the efforts of rights based organisations gradually women were given equal opportunities for aspiring various goals and shouldering responsibilities in the society. He stressed on the importance of giving the basic respect to a woman.

            Appreciating the existence of equality for men and women in the Naga society, Soundararajan encouraged for liberating the existing sense for betterment of the society. On the occasion he congratulated all the awardees and acknowledged the responsibilities shouldered by the women folk in the fight against COVID 19.

            Marking the day one female candidate from various field was nominated and the awardees were felicitated by the special guest.

            From the administration, ADC Dimapur, V.Lovitoly Sema was nominated and awarded for shouldering the onerous responsibilities of managing and coordinating the efforts of Dimapur district in the fight against COVID 19 pandemic. Accepting the award, Sema thanked the organisers and dedicated the award to the administrative officers and the frontline workers.

            From the Medical field, Deputy Chief Medical officer, Dr.Antoly Suu was awarded for her contribution in health care setting and for being the backbone and consistent face of the medical department. Dr.Antoly dedicated the award to the entire medical fraternity.

            Other awardees included the officer-in-charge of Women Police station, Rose Yanthan for her relentless effort and services rendered in acquiring justice to women, protecting and preventing atrocities against women. Akumtila Longkumer was awarded for her achievements in the field of games and sports at National and State level. Hasna Kumar and Kikrusenuo were felicitated for being the top Girl scorer under Dimapur district. In the field of Academic Excellence, Government Teacher (Science) Watimenla, was awarded for her contribution towards girl child education. Digamber Jain Girls' College Dimapur was also felicitated for the Society's sincere concern and care for Women education.

            Geeta Kumari was nominated for the award for her contribution towards health and sanitation for women at the grassroots level. From Art and Culture, Zuchobeni Tungoe the only female contestant from North East India who has made it to the top 15 of the VLCC Femina Miss India 2020 was felicitated. Lipokjungla Ozukum, Director and Co- Founder Ilando Services Private Limited was awarded in the local Female Entrepreneur category while Naga Women Hoho Dimapur was felicitated in the civil Societies category. In the Non-governmental organization, the Missionaries of Charity Dimapur, affiliated to the Missionaries of Charity Kolkota was awarded for serving all people irrespective of caste or religion.

            Highlights of the day included special song by Vilika T Chishi, welcome note by Women Welfare officer, DLCW-MSK Dimapur, Lanusangla Jamir. The programme held at DC’s conference hall Dimapur was chaired by District Coordinator, DLCW- MSK DImapur, Dhonthaidi Langthasa while vote of thanks was proposed by IT, Sakhi-OSC Dimapur, Tisaenla N.Jamir.
