World Environment Day 2020 was observed at Noklak Town under the theme ‘Conserve Biodiversity’ which was organised by 45 Assam Rifle, Noklak A Coy on 5th June 2020.
Speaking on the occasion, Major Anuj Mahant stated that, the region has a rich biodiversity and urged the people to continue to conserve the biodiversity and also advised all to plant trees. Taking the initiatives of the occasion, he gave his sincere appreciation to Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam (KMH), Adora Children home and all the well-wishers for participating and making the World Environment Day 2020 occasion a remarkable and successful. With a few participants, the plantation drive and programme has been carried out maintaining a social distancing along with all the precautions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he added. Major Anuj Mahant also presented gifts to all the participants of Adora Children home during the short programme held at Assam Rifle camp Noklak.
Earlier, the participants march in the main town as an awareness on Environment Day holding banners.
During the day, more than hundreds saplings of pines and order ornamental trees were planted in the main town and Assam Rifle camp area.
