Awareness on Rabies and free Anti Rabies vaccination drives was conducted at District Veterinary Hospital, Kiphire on 28th September 2021 under the theme " Rabies: Facts, not Fear". Chief Veterinary & AH Officer Kiphire, Dr. Tsilise Sangtam, stated that every year the Nation celebrates Rabies Day on 28th September as it marks the death anniversary of French chemist and microbiologist, Louis Pasteur, who first developed rabies vaccine. He mentioned that the year’s theme "Rabies: Facts, not Fear" focuses on facts about rabies and to eradicate the myths and misconception about the disease. Sangtam added that it aims to raise awareness about the impact of rabies on humans and animals and also to support advocacy for increased efforts in rabies control. He also said that rabies is a communicable disease that can spread to people and pets if they are bitten by a rabies animal, though the disease is a fatal, it is preventable so he urged everyone to be aware about the disease so that one can be safe from the so called rabies in days to come. A short video clip was also shown regarding the Rabies Disease. (Wangshikokla, IA Kiphire)
